MEA and the National Gas Rodeo announced that the 2-person team Mayhem from Alagasco (AL) and the 4-person team Insane Methane from Piedmont Natural Gas (NC) are the 2013 National Gas Rodeo champions. The 4-person team from Laclede Gas (MO), Gas House Gang, broke the pipe cut record with an amazing 8.31 second cut.
Rodeo Chairman, Scot Luchtefeld from Ameren Illinois Company says, “This year’s event was truly amazing. We experienced a 20% increase in teams from last year with 24 two-person teams and 25 four-person teams representing energy delivery companies from across the nation. It is the hope of the committee that this group continues to grow as we move to Colorado Springs for 2014. We encourage all companies to send teams to compete in this team-building event.”
The National Gas Rodeo supports the Wounded Warrior project. Over $2,300 was raised by the Rodeo teams to benefit the nation’s wounded servicemen and women. MEA and the Rodeo Committee thank everyone who donated.
The National Gas Rodeo is the proving ground for the elite gas crews from across the United States. The intense competition and camaraderie of the Rodeo offer competitors an opportunity to showcase their skills and professionalism. The National Gas Rodeo is administered by Midwest ENERGY Association and supported by American Gas Association, American Public Gas Association, and Southern Gas Association.
The 20th Annual National Gas Rodeo will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Goose Gossage Park, in Colorado Springs, CO. For more information go to or call Janelle Murphy at (651) 289-9600 x109.
