Two long-time employees of Compressor Engineering Corporation (CECO) recently celebrated 50 years of service to the compressor industry with a dinner and reception in Ruston, LA. Bill Arrant, senior engineering consultant, and Art Black, retired vice president of Manufacturing and Engineering for CECO, were honored by their customers and friends from CECO.

RSC Equipment Rental has promoted Linda Luman to vice president, Staffing and Employee Relations.

Insituform Technologies Inc. has named Kenneth L. Young as vice president and treasurer, effective April 13, 2009. Young comes to Insituform with over 30 years of experience in treasury and financial management.
  In other news, Commercial Coating Services International, Ltd. (CCSI), a subsidiary of Insituform Technologies, Inc.’s newly acquired subsidiary, The Bayou Companies, Inc., recently surpassed one million man-hours worked without filing a single lost time injury report.  
  According to Dave Hammon, CCSI’s Human Resources, Health & Safety manager, there have been no lost time injury reports filed since December 13, 2004.  Gary Brown, CCSI President, notes, “Every CCSI employee has contributed to this significant milestone through daily dedication to following our defined safety procedures.”

IronPlanet®, an online auction company for used construction and agricultural equipment, recently appointed Chad Groves as managing director of IronPlanet Australia. He will be responsible for the continued growth of IronPlanet’s business in the Australian marketplace.

An agreement has been reached that will allow Caterpillar to remanufacture Eaton Corporation’s heavy duty transmissions at its Summerville, SC facility beginning in the third quarter 2009.

Liberty Coating Company LLC, an applicator for industrial coatings serving natural gas, oil, petrochemical, water and waste water industries in the Northeastern United States, has purchased a 35-acre site in Morrisville, PA. The facility includes 110,000 square feet of coating application facilities for preparing and coating piping up to 96 inches in diameter for both internal and external coating systems. The site, which is part of the Keystone Industrial Port Complex, includes rail, road, and port access to the Delaware River. Located near the I-95 Corridor, Liberty provides services from Maine to Virginia.

Tarry Hutton and Chad Zamarin have joined NiSource Gas Transmission and Storage Company (NGT&S) as director of Capital Program Management and director of Integrity Management, respectively.
  In his new role, Hutton will be responsible for capital project execution (formerly known as CML and Growth), environmental permitting, and project management and implementation of all engineering and construction activities required to complete the capital budget. Zamarin new role will involve overseeing the Integrity Management Plan (IMP) and implementation of actions required to comply with Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Part 192 Regulations.

Doosan Infracore America announced Bobcat Central as its newest addition to its dealer network.  With locations in Stockton, Merced and Fresno, CA, Bobcat Central will offer the full-line of Doosan excavators and wheel loaders to the Central Californian market. 

Volvo Rents donated more than 800 pounds of non-perishable food items to Sarasota’s All Faith Food Bank.  The donated items resulted from admissions to the Hardhat Comedy Show held at The Players Club in Sarasota on April 20, 2009.  “We were very pleased to have sponsored an event that resulted in such a large amount of food for the community.  The response was overwhelming,” stated Nick Mavrick of Volvo Rents who attended the event.

Interpipe recently commissioned a pipe coating line with a capacity of 250,000 tons/yr, at the Interpipe NTRP mill in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.  Equipment for the pipe coating line was supplied by Venjakob, Germany. The new coating will protect pipes from corrosion and will be applied to different types of pipe with diameters ranging from 73 – 178 mm. The protective ultra-violet coating placed on the pipes has a quick drying capability of 0.5-2 seconds. The paint setting also has an air purification system that keeps the workshop atmosphere unpolluted, does not contain varnish and is entirely safe for workers.
  Duncan Pell, commercial director of Interpipe said, “The new protective coating will help to preserve the quality of pipes during both their long-term storage and transportation. This protection during transportation is particularly crucial for the supply of goods to long-distance markets such as  NAFTA and the Middle East.”

Orville Lee Andrews died on March 26, at his home in Elgin, IA after a lengthy illness. He was a warehouseman for Regular Member Abercrombie Pipeline Services, LLC and worked in the industry for over 40 years. He was known as “Big 0”. He is survived by his wife, Georgia of Elgin, Iowa, ten children, 24 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services were held April I, 2009, at United Methodist Church in Hawkeye, IA.
