America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA) has named Brian Kelly senior director for Government Relations. Kelly has represented both corporations and associations, including those within the energy sector, and joins ANGA with a diverse background in strategic and tactical planning, public policy and business development. In his new position, Kelly will work closely with members of Congress, their staffs, and regulators to emphasize the benefits that abundant domestic natural gas offers to the country’s clean energy economy.
ANGA represents 31 of the nation’s leading independent natural gas exploration and production companies.
Lincoln Electric is offering a free Pipeline Welding Seminar intended for contractors and professionals in the pipeline industry. The three-day, in-depth session will take place on March 29-31, 2011, at Lincoln Electric’s corporate headquarters in Cleveland, OH.

John L. Mendoza, a 36-year veteran of the welding industry, has been named as the 2011 president and chairman of the board of the American Welding Society (AWS). Energy Consultancy Xodus Group has set up the Subsea Advanced Analysis Team headed by Dr. Afshin Motarjemi. Dr Motarjemi specializes in subsea pipeline integrity which employs sophisticated Fitness For Service (FFS) and Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) engineering to assess significance of flaws on performance of pipelines during installation and operation. This also involves extending life of the pipelines beyond their design life which ultimately provides reduced cost and time benefits for clients.
National Trench Safety, LLC (NTS), a Houston-based company specializing in the rental and sales of trench and traffic safety equipment, as well as OSHA-compliant training classes, has opened a new branch in Salt Lake City, UT. The Salt Lake City branch is the tenth branch operation in the U.S. NTS plans to open at least two additional new branch operations in 2011 with additional branches planned to follow in 2012.
Production Management Industries (PMI), a Superior Energy Services company, plans to open a Mid-Continent base of operations in Midland, TX. Ronald Courville will be general manager for the Mid-Continent business unit and oversee the set up of operations in Midland. PMI’s Mid-Continent operations will share a facility with sister Superior company, HB Rentals.
Koch Pipeline Company, L.P. reported that its employees worked all of 2010 with no minor or significant injuries.
“No award or accolade can fully highlight the dedication to safety and the focus on ensuring that every Koch Pipeline employee goes home safely each and every day,” said Kim Penner, company president. “Going an entire year with no injuries that require time away from work is a big accomplishment; but going an entire year with no small injuries that require something more than general first aid is a huge milestone.

Lincoln Electric Holdings, Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire OOO Severstal-metiz: welding consumables, a leading manufacturer of welding consumables in Russia and a subsidiary of OAO Severstal, one of the world’s leading vertically integrated steel and mining companies. The transaction will include acquiring manufacturing operations and exclusive distribution rights of the Severstal brand of welding consumables. Financial terms were not disclosed.

JM Test Systems has opened a new office in Corpus Christi, TX that is being staffed by Greg Gallagher and Chuck Kauffman. JM Test Systems operates a full service metrology lab that provides calibration and repair services for both electronic and electrical instruments, mechanical and dimensional test equipment utilized in the pipeline, petrochemical and manufacturing industries.
Diane James, 63, the wife of Jimmy James of Associated Pipe Line Contractors, Inc., passed away on December 20, 2010, in Thornton, AR. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Charles, daughter Lisa, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 23, 2010, in Fordyce, AR.
