A Gild of Ancient Supplers’ breakfast was held at the recent AGA Operations Conference in Orlando, FL. Some 50 suppliers to the gas industry attended.
Don Kopczynski, vice president of Avista Corp. and chairman of the Operations Committee for the Gild, was presented with a $500 check for the charity of his choice – The Morning Star Boys Ranch of Spokane, WA.
Recognizing his lifetime of work to advance the natural gas industry, the American Gas Association honored Angelo Fabiano as the winner of the 2013 Milton W. Heath Sr. Memorial Award at its biennial exhibition held May 21-24, 2012. The award, sponsored by Heath Consultants Inc., is given annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to leak detection, prevention or repair during the preceding five years.
Fabiano also led the development of several projects in damage prevention and live PE pipe repair, many of which are expected to become commercially available. Additionally, he developed leak technology evaluation protocols and worked with NYSEARCH members to assess the readiness of developing technologies. He currently works as an independent consultant.
Gulf Interstate Field Services (GIFS) was recently awarded Kinder Morgan’s prestigious Contractor Safety Award. Selected among more than 5,000 contracting companies, GIFS was selected for performing at an exemplary level and for always keeping safety at the forefront of operations. GIFS is being recognized as the only multi-award winner in 2013, receiving the overall Corporate Safety Award, as well as an individual business unit award in the Natural Gas division.
GIFS currently has more than 650 construction management, inspection and other support personnel assigned to projects throughout the United States.
Viatran Corporation recently opened its new Southwest Calibration Center in Houston. According to Paul Corbelli, product manager at Viatran, Houston is just the first in a line of planned calibration centers demonstrating the company’s ongoing efforts to have a local presence for customers.
MRC Global Inc. has opened a new regional distribution center at 11605 East 27th Street North, Tulsa, OK 74116. The location will support 13 MRC service locations throughout Oklahoma and the Midwest U.S.

Profire Energy, Inc. has signed a lease agreement for a new warehousing and distribution center in Katy, TX. The 5,000-foot facility is located near the I-10W/Energy Corridor, and is expected to facilitate greater storage and distribution capacities within the Texas region.

Oil States International, Inc.’s U.S. accommodations subsidiary, PTI Group USA, has constructed a new facility in the Permian Basin in Pecos, TX. The room count is expected to increase to a total capacity of 310 rooms when the initial construction is completed in the third quarter of 2013.
Odyssey Investment Partners, LLC has acquired Cross-Country Pipeline Supply Co., Inc., based in Aurora, CO. Cross Country provides specialized equipment to the domestic pipeline construction industry for rent and sale. The Cross Country management team, led by President John James, will continue to head the company under Odyssey’s ownership.
T.D. Williamson (TDW) has opened a new maintenance center in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The 7,500 sq-ft addition represents the firm’s first phase expansion into the Middle East region. The facility is located in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi.
Eagleton Engineering, LLC has opened its Rocky Mountain Division in Denver, CO. Tim White recently joined Eagleton and has been appointed vice president of the Rocky Mountain Division. He will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in conjunction with executing projects while supported by his staff of engineers and designers.
Vacuworx Global is expanding its Tulsa-region operations with a new training facility in Tulsa and the addition of more than 40 local staff. Tulsa-based Vacuworx, which provides pipe lifting systems for pipeline and other applications, will invest $10 million in a 20,000-sq-ft training center located at 10808 E. 55th Place.
Vacuworx also is expanding its workforce, with plans to add fabrication workers, machinists, sales staff and other employees.
Dominion announced that Gary L. Sypolt will retire as executive vice president of the company and CEO of its Dominion Energy business unit after a 38-year career. The company also announced several managerial retirements that can be found at www.dom.com.
Khalid A. Muslih has been appointed president of Buckeye’s International Pipelines and Terminals business unit. Muslih is succeeding Mary F. Morgan, who is retiring from Buckeye. The company also announced that Chris S. Pine has been promoted to vice president, Corporate Development and Strategic Planning.
Zane Wise, 86, father of PLCA First Vice President Ronnie Wise, died June 25, 2013 in Monroe, LA. Wise spent 21 years as a pipeline employee for Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company before joining Louisiana Gas Purchasing where he served as a vice president until retirement.
Wise is survived by his wife, Monette; daughter, Connie Landry (Joe); son Ronnie (Melissa); daughter Kathy Posey (Steve); sister, Allene Byars; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Barbara Oliver White passed away July 12, 2013 in Dallas, TX. She was the widow of PLCA past president and honorary member Tom White. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Frank Ellis Oliver of Winona, MS.
White served as past president and was a member of the Medical City Dallas Auxiliary where she volunteered for over 28 years. At the time of her death, she was serving on the Auxiliary Board as the Chaplaincy Chairperson.
White is survived by her children Jim White (Laura); Pat White (Jill); Holly White; and six grandchildren .
