The 2nd Annual Western Outlaw Shootout Golf Tournament, hosted by Outlaw Padding Co. and sponsored by Avalanche Equipment, LLC, Dixie Mat & Hardwood, Inc., Double M. Construction, Joe Voerding with Cashman Equipment Co., Outlaw Padding Co., Ozzie’s Pipeline Padder, Inc., Pedero Pipe Support Systems USA, Unicoa Pipeline Supply, Vacuworx International, Wasatch Pipeline Supply, Inc., and Western Supplies Inc., was held May 3, 2009.
  The weekend started with several players arriving in Phoenix, AZ a little early to play a round of golf at the 500 Club.  Everyone finished off the day by attending an open bar get together with food and a DJ that was provided by the sponsors. 
  The Shootout Golf Tournament began with a 7 a.m. shotgun start.  Following the tournament a BBQ lunch was provided along with the award of cash prizes totaling $29,000. Also at the event, the sponsors   thanked the many pipeline contractors who purchased products and used their services throughout the year to make this event possible. 

Michels Corporation has appointed Mark Hutter vice president of Business Development and Marketing. Hutter has been with Michels Corporation since 2007 and has overseen business development efforts for both the industrial pipe services and wind farm divisions.  In his new role, he will be responsible for corporate marketing and communications as well as the business development of all 16 divisions and subsidiaries within Michels Corporation. Hutter will also remain active in the wind energy industry. 

Deepwater Corrosion Services, in conjunction with its local partner Alduco, has setup bases of operation to service the offshore market in the Gulf of Guinea. The initial operating bases are in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea and Lagos and Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Deepwater says through this alliance it will offer the full range of its products and services in the Gulf of Guinea.

Larry J. Bump has joined Tulsa, OK-based T.D. Williamson Inc.’s Board of Directors. Bump served as president and COO, then Chairman and CEO of Willbros Group Inc. from 1977 until his retirement in 2002.  He continued as chairman of the board until 2005.
  During his tenure at Willbros, Bump directed major pipeline projects throughout the world, including North and South America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Soviet Union. He also completed two terms (1984 and 1985) as president of the International Pipe Line and Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA) based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mpact Downhole Motors is the new name of a Conroe, TX-based company with more than 20 years of industry experience. Formerly part of Multi-Shot LLC, under this new business name, Mpact Downhole Motors will focus exclusively on the development, manufacture, distribution and rental of proprietary Mpact™ drilling motors for the domestic directional, horizontal, and vertical drilling markets, servicing customers through four regional service centers and ten sales offices.

Superior Energy Services has relocated two of its facilities to better serve the oil and gas industry operating in and along the Gulf Coast. By positioning its Marine Services Division and Concentric Pipe and Tool Rentals operations in New Iberia, La., clients will be better served by these expanded and upgraded facilities while bringing economic benefits to the region.
  Representatives from Superior’s Marine Services Division, now located at 2917 Oliva Road and Concentric Pipe and Tool Rentals, now located at 6203 U.S. 90 West, New Iberia, LA , hosted a luncheon and ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the relocations.

Obituaries
David A. Haynes of Beaverton, MI, passed away June 27, 2009 in Oak Hill, WV while whitewater rafting with family members. David was a long-time employee of Mears in Rosebush, MI. He joined Mears in 1996 and served as the point man for HDD operations in Rosebush for a number of years. His most recent position was as Pipeline Development Manger.
  David was preceded in death by his father Joseph Haynes Sr. He is survived by his mother, Jane Haynes; wife, Paula Haynes; sons Scott, Matthew and Nicholas; step daughter Lindsy and husband Mike Brueggeman; stepsons Shawn and Kelsey Stockford; sister, Laurie Warner; one granddaughter and two grandsons.
  Services were held July 2 at the Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Beaverton, MI. 

Barbara Jean Davis Riggs of Belpre, OH passed away June 16, 2009. Barbara was the owner and CEO of L.A. Pipeline Construction Co. Inc. 
  She is survived by her husband, Wayne (Bud) Riggs; daughter, Susan-Gail Pearl and husband, Brian of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; son, William (Billy) West and wife Mary of Marietta, OH; son, Richard West and wife, Beth of Vienna, WV; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Gospel Baptist Church, Torch, OH. Memorials may be sent to the Tunnel Relay for Life, c/o Peoples Bank, 138 Putnam Street, Marietta, OH 45750 in honor of Barbara Jean Riggs for lung cancer research or the Barbara Jean Riggs Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Gospel Baptist Church, County Road #16, P.O.
