Connecticut Expansion Facilities Can Be Placed in Service

FERC has approved Kinder Morgan’s request to place into service the following the Connecticut Expansion Project facilities:

  • Massachusetts Loop in Berkshire County, Massachusetts
  • New York Loop in Albany County, New York

According to FERC’s Rich McGuire, the company has adequately stabilized the construction workspaces and the rehabilitation and stabilization of the construction work areas are proceeding satisfactorily.

The Connecticut Expansion Project includes approximately 13.42 miles of 24-inch and 36-inch diameter pipeline looping in Albany County, New York, Berkshire and Hampden Counties, Massachusetts. and Hartford County, Connecticut, minor modifications at one compressor station in Massachusetts, and installation of minor appurtenant facilities. Once finished, it will provide approximately 72,100 dekatherms per day of additional firm natural gas transportation capacity.

The project is expected to be operational on November 1, 2017.
