EG Ehitus AS, a subsidiary of AS Eesti Gaas, has been awarded a contract from Elering to build the Kiili-Paldiski Pipeline associated with the Balticconnector Pipeline Project.
Under the terms of the contract, the scope of work on the 55-kilometer pipeline in Estonia is expected to begin later this year and will be finished in 2019.
“The design works will terminate by end of this year, however we have distributed the designing into stages, so that building works can be launched as early as in August – September,“ said Chairman of Board of EG Ehituse AS Ahto Aruväli. “Subject to contract agreement the building works are to be finalised by end of summer next year, when the Kiili-Paldiski pipeline should enable transporting natural gas from the Estonian network to the Finnish network.”
Once completed, the Balticconnector Pipeline Project will connect the gas networks of Finland and the Baltic countries, enabling the opening of the gas market in Finland. The project is expected to be placed in service by 2020.
