The Grundoburst static pipe bursting system uses a specially designed bladed cutter head to make bursting ductile iron and steel pipe possible. Six models are available for bursting 2-inch through 54-inch pipes and larger. It can pull in a variety of replacement pipe, including PVC, DIP, ABS, cast iron, fusion welded HDPE and VCP jacking pipe. Pulled by a hydraulic bursting unit, the cutter head’s special cutting wheels split the host pipe. An attached expander spreads and displaces the split pipe into the surrounding soil while simultaneously pulling in the new pipe. Patented QuickLock bursting rods are linked together not threaded. This saves time, prevents twisting and extends the life of the cutter head over threaded bursting rods. www.tttechnologies.comEAG

The EAG VOC Plus Hand-Held VOC Emissions Analyzer measures total VOCs from stationary emissions sources. It includes real-time continuous data-logging and offers multiple measurement ranges. In addition to photoionization detector (PID) sensors, the device includes a choice of 0-20 ppm or 0-200 ppm VOC measuring range, a continuous active internal sampling pump and the internal data storage of 2,000 tests. In addition, it has a long-lasting battery and AC charger.

Huntingdon Fusion

Huntingdon Fusion’s Weld Purge Film Kits can be used on pipe diameters up to 36 inches (900 mm) and at temperatures up to 572° (300° C) without the material burning, coming loose and losing the weld purge. The water-soluble film allows dams to be cut easily with the safety knife. The kits minimize gas use by reducing purge time and eliminating the need to clean a weld. The film dam’s transparency allows the welder to see the weld root as it is being laid and the low vapor pressure eliminates outgas during welding.

Senstar introduced the FiberPatrol FP7000 fiber-optic pipeline integrity monitoring system for both gas and liquid-carrying pipelines. It can also be used for fence-mounted, intrusion detection. The combining patented distributed differential temperature sensing (DDTS) and distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technologies detect and locate small leaks faster and more accurately than traditional flow and pressure-monitoring solutions, the company said. FP7000’s DDTS technology can continuously monitor temperature along the entire length of the sensor and can detect changes in temperature and temperature rate as low as 0.0005° C and 0.001° C/min, respectively. In addition, the DAS technology detects minute acoustic signals emanating from a leak.


Loftness introduced its Bad Ax disc mulcher for skid steers, a high-powered forestry head for a wide range of applications, including land clearing and vegetation control. It includes a fully machined, 60-inch disc designed to cut trees up to 14-inches in diameter. Because the disc contains no welds, there are no areas subject to stress cracking. The disc is driven directly by a hydraulic motor to apply 100% of the power to the job at hand. A polyurethane coupler offers excellent vibration dampening, and the direct drive eliminates the need to maintain belts. Standard features include an integrated pressure gauge, an adjustable tree-pusher bar with welded claw hooks, and anti-wrap bearing protection. Customers may choose from two available hydraulic motor options, including a fixed-displacement gear motor and an adjustable-displacement piston motor. The Bad Ax requires 70-20 hydraulic hp to operate.

Rhino introduced its Rhino 406 epoxy for the interior of tanks and pipe-lining applications. The spray-in-place lining is used exclusively with plural component spray equipment. It is heat resistance, so it can be used in extreme temperatures. Applications are tack free within two to three hours and may be immediately recoated with additional coats of up to 50 mils to repair cracks or fill defects. Pipes lined with the Rhino 406 can return to service within 24 hours and will cure underwater. Separately, Rhino 1500 is a clear epoxy primer that can be applied over concrete and many other substrates by brush, roller or spray equipment. Rhino 1500 dries in 60 to 90 minutes and is typically applied as a primer or as a stand-alone sealer.

Opto 22
Opto 22 announces the addition of international standard IEC 61131-3 programming options in its groov EPIC edge programmable industrial controller. All IEC 61131-3 standard languages are supported by groov EPIC, including function block diagram (FBD), structured text (ST), sequential function charts (SFC), and ladder diagram (LD). The PC-based CODESYS Development System V3 creates and compiles IEC 61131-3 programs for download to a pre-installed run time on groov EPIC. The runtime is enabled by a free software license.
