FERC has approved Millennium Pipeline Company, LLC’s request to begin construction of the Valley Lateral Project along with the incorporation of conventional bores, horizontal directional drills, additional workspace, and access road modifications.
According to FERC’s Danny Laffoon, the conventional bores and horizontal directional drill modifications offer a greater level of protection for waterbodies and wetlands crossed by the project. Laffoon added that FERC staff has confirmed there would be no effect on cultural resources or threatened or endangered species from the use of these areas, and the company has documented landowner approval for these modifications.
The Valley Lateral Project consists of the installation of approximately 7.8 miles of 16 inch lateral pipeline between Millennium’s mainline in Orange County, New York and the CPV Valley Energy Center in Wawayanda, Orange County, New York. The project does not require any additional construction or modification to the existing Millennium system.
