FERC has approved TransCanada’s request to commence construction activities at the Leach C Meter Station in Boyd County, Ky., associated with the Gulf XPress Project. These activities include constructing a new flow control building to upgrade the station’s flow control capabilities.
The Gulf XPress Project includes the construction of seven new compressor stations in Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi, along with upgrades to one approved compressor station and one existing meter station. Once completed, the project will greatly broaden the reach of low-cost, U.S.-produced natural gas from the Appalachian Basin, helping keep costs down for families and businesses in the region, while increasing reliability and access.
It is expected to be placed in service in 2018.
