McElroy has introduced MegaMc® Rollers for 12-inch IPS to 54-inch OD polyethylene pipe sizes. The rollers keep pipe off the ground and aids in the pulling of fused pipe along the right of way. The MegaMc Rollers are tip-resistant with a capacity of 9,000 pounds per unit. The company says the fused joint and pipe roll through the device easily. By keeping the pipe off the ground, the pipe is protected from the damage of being pulled along the ground, as well as excessive pulling forces. Four years ago, McElroy released Low Profile Rollers for 4- through 20-inch piping. The new MegaMc Rollers offers many of the same benefits as the preceding rollers, just on a larger scale.

Denso North America Inc.
Denso has released two features on their website, the new Petrolatum Training video and On-line Product gallery. The videos focus on the different methods of applying Denso’s petrolatum tapes on straight pipes and irregular surfaces. In the future, the company says to expect to see more in-depth training videos on all the Denso products from the Protal Liquid Coatings to the SeaShield Pile Protection Systems. Also released was an on-line product gallery, which allows the visitor to see the product and application photos and help then choose and understand what they are requesting. Ecosphere Technologies, Inc.
Ecosphere Technologies, Inc. announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a formal Notice of Allowance for a fifth patent to treat industrial wastewaters including those that are produced during the exploration and production of oil and natural gas. Ecosphere’s largest mobile water treatment system, the Ozonix EF80, processes up to 80 bbls of water per minute  allowing energy companies to save water and eliminate the need to dispose of production waters in deep injection wells.

Kobelco Construction Machinery America
Kobelco Construction Machinery America introduced the SK170 full-size, high-performance excavator to the Kobelco Mark 9 excavator series. These new Tier 4 models include the SK210, SK260, SK295, SK350 and SK485 Mark 9 excavators. The versatile SK170 Mark 9 delivers up to a 10% improvement in both fuel efficiency and productivity, and provides more power and faster engine response. “The Mark 9 excavators are the most fuel efficient machines Kobelco has ever built,” said Reece Norwood, Kobelco platform manager. Featuring an upgrade to Kobelco’s legendary intelligent hydraulics, the SK170 Mark 9 is equipped with the industry’s first selective catalytic reduction (SCR) emission solution for excavators. A new ROPS/FOPS certified cab provides a larger, more comfortable work environment, and a low engine cover and standard wide-angle rear-view camera improve operator visibility and productivity.

Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment America
The new Doosan DXB130H and DXB190H hydraulic breakers feature an energy recovery system that increases strike power for maximum productivity. The nitrogen-powered breakers are equipped with an upper/lower suspension system that isolates the power unit from the housing, making it an ideal fit for in a variety of demanding applications. Delivering up to 600 blows per minute, the 2,822-pound DXB130H is designed for use with excavators in the 15 to 22 metric-ton weight range, specifically the Doosan DX180LC, DX190W and DX210W. Rated in the 3,000 ft.-lb. impact energy class, the DXB130H requires a hydraulic flow rate of between 23.8 and 37 gpm. The 3,698-pound DXB190H is designed for use with excavators in the 21 to 31 metric-ton weight range, which includes the DX225LC, DX235LCR, DX255LC and DX300LC Doosan excavators.

Weiler Corporation’s controlled flare end brushes feature a uniquely trimmed crimped wire fill for more effective brushing action and greatly enhanced durability when cleaning fillet welds and into corners, bevels, channels, and slots. The patented design is said to eliminate the rapid filament fatigue and wire breakage that occurs when using standard end brushes on high-speed air tools to clean and prep hard-to-reach areas.  Controlled flare end brushes are available in steel wire for use on carbon steel and other materials, and stainless steel wire for use on corrosion resistant alloys as well as aluminum and other non-ferrous metals.  With brush diameters from ½-  to 1-inch  and .0104, .014 and .020 wire sizes, Weiler has a controlled flare end brush suitable for almost any application.

The 3M Speedglas Welding Helmet 9100 MP seamlessly integrates five levels of protection – head, eye, face, respiratory and hearing – into one convenient system. The all-in-one helmet helps provide a more comfortable experience for workers in oil and gas, marine repair, heavy construction, etc. The helmet features adjustable settings for the headband and face seal to profile each user’s head and face. The clear protective visor is approx. 8 x 4.25 inches and curved to offer views up, down and side-to-side. To further optimize peripheral vision, the pull-down welding shield features side window views. The hard hat shell is made from heat-resistant polycarbonate and meets the ANSI Z89.1-2009 requirements for Type 1 Class G hard hats, as well as the requirements of CSA Z94.3 for CSA marked products and the high impact requirements of ANSI Z87.1 – 2010. For welding environments where supplied air respiratory protection is needed, the 3M Speedglas Fresh-air III Supplied Air Regulator meets National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) standards for supplied air respirators.

HJ3 Composite Technologies, L.L.C.
HJ3’s CarbonSeal™ Industrial Composite Systems have been qualified and approved by PEMEX of Mexico for the repair and strengthening of its low risk and high risk corroded or damaged steel pipes. The approval covers pipelines throughout the oil and gas production process areas, including all on-shore, off-shore, exploration, refining, transmission, and distribution pipelines. The qualifying process was conducted by Instituto Mexicano Del Petroleo (IMP), involving a series of individual strength and durability tests per ASME PCC-2 Article 4.1 APPENDIX III ISO/TS-24817 Standards for the Repair of Pressure Equipment and Piping. Part of the test protocol included a burst test to determine the ability of the CarbonSeal system to withstand internal pressures over 5,000 psi when wrapped over defects to include 80-90% steel wall loss.

Bobcat Company
Bobcat Company has announced a plan for Tier 4 solutions that include a Doosan-built engine added to some of its equipment lineup for 2014. Development of the new Tier 4-compliant engine was a collaboration between Bobcat, Doosan (Bobcat’s parent company) and some of the world’s top engineering consultants and engine design firms — Ricardo, FEV and others. The Doosan-built engine is a non-DPF (diesel particulate filter) engine. The new Tier 4 Doosan engines will be available in Bobcat machines that meet Tier 4 horsepower requirement ranges sometime in early 2014. Over the next 18 months, Bobcat plans to release more details on the Bobcat Tier 4 machines and their engines, along with additional and features and solutions that will benefit customers.

The Armor Drilling System from Vermeer is now available for smaller horizontal directional drills (HDD) ranging from 16,000 to 24,000 pounds of thrust/pullback. The Armor Drilling System features multiple bits, each specially configured to battle a range of ground conditions. An innovative and patent-pending advanced bit mounting design utilizes a solid pin for bit retention and for ease in bit interchangeability and maintenance. The housing is constructed with dual water ports that deliver up to 70 gpm at 800 psi of mud flow to effectively carry cuttings out of the bore hole. The sonde lid is designed with a new roll pin retention feature and is built to minimize distortion caused by flexing. The company says this pin design is more vibration resistant than a bolt on lid. The Armor Drilling System is designed to be used with the Vermeer D16x20 Series II Navigator®, D20x22 Series II Navigator, and D24x40 Series II Navigator HDD models and compatible with the Ditch Witch JT2020 and JT3020.

The Lincoln Electric Company is offering welders of all skill levels access to the safety information they need anywhere, anytime.  The company’s new Welding Safety Interactive Guide converts Lincoln Electric’s award-winning Welding Safety Interactive DVD into an online format that is easily accessible and viewable on computers, tablets and mobile phones.
