VERNON Tool, a Lincoln Electric Company subsidiary, has introduced the latest addition to the current line of pipe cutting, beveling and profiling products – the MasterPipe™ Profiler. The company says this new system is an integration of features and functions targeted for small- to medium-sized fabricators. The economically priced MasterPipe Profiler is a two-axis, CNC controlled pipe cutting machine capable of cutting and profiling pipe ranging from 1- to 12-inch outer diameter (OD) and up to 40 feet in length. Standard cuts include mid-section holes, miters, multi-intersection, centerline offsets, saddles and straight cuts. Power is provided by VERNON Tool’s standard Windows-based operating system, in MPM. This icon-driven touch screen is said to make training and implementation with operators seamless, and means fabricators can get into production within hours, not days.

Intercon Enterprises Inc.
InterPurge Pipe-Align Clamps from Intercon Enterprises are designed to save time and are what the company calls the welder’s important “third” hand. Forged steel construction makes this a heavy duty tool while the stainless steel ball bearing in the wing bolt allows precise micro adjustment to insure perfect root gaps and alignment. They are said to be excellent for pipe to pipe as well as pipe to elbow or flange assemblies. They are offered at lower prices in a variety of pipe ranges from ¾-inch up to 14 ½ inches.  The company says this tool would be a great help to any welder in many fields including utilities, petrochemical, shipbuilding, vessel and tank fabrication.

Deere & Co.
Production began in September 2010 of John Deere’s recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and European Union (EU) EPA certified PowerTech PVX 6.8L above 130 kW (174 hp) and their PowerTech PSX 6.8L engine as compliant with the Interim Tier 4 and Stage III B regulations. Interim Tier 4/Stage III B emissions regulations begin January 1, 2011, for 130 kW (174 hp) and above engines and require a 90% reduction in diesel particulate matter (PM) and a 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) from previous Tier 3/Stage III A requirements. John Deere officials say they met the challenge of Interim Tier 4/Stage III B regulations by starting with their proven PowerTech Plus Tier 3/Stage III A engine platform – which includes cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) for NOx control – and adding an exhaust filter for reducing PM. These engines will feature full-authority electronic controls, a 4-valve cylinder head, a high-pressure fuel system, single variable geometry or series turbocharging and an air-to-air aftercooling system.

Pipeline Inspection Company Ltd.
The small profile SPY® PT-101 Pipeline Inspection Company, Ltd. transmitter measures 1 inch (25.4mm) in diameter and 4 3/16 inches (106.4 mm) in length. Engineering at Pipeline Inspection Company states that the small profile of the SPY® PT 101 transmitter enables it to be used in smaller diameter pipes and also requires significantly less space inside various pig cavities.  Like all SPY® Pig Tracking Systems, the new transmitter is used in conjunction with a receiver unit and a wand (SPY® PTR) to pinpoint the pig’s location in small diameter transmission, gathering lines, municipal gas, water and wastewater and process industries.  The SPY® Model PT 101 has a free air space pick-up range of 15 to 20 ft. with an underground depth range of 4 to 6 feet.  This “mini” transmitter can be used in temperatures ranging from –20˚ F (28˚C) to 180˚F (82˚C).  A 3-volt lithium battery powers this new transmitter for up to 60 hours.

McElroy Manufacturing
McElroy’s new Rolling 28 Hand-Pump (HP) fusion machine combines a rolling chassis with a hand-pump fusion carriage. Designed for 2-inch IPS through 8-inch DIPS high-density polyethylene pipe sizes (63mm through 225mm), the fusion carriage of the Rolling 28 HP can be removed to fuse pipe in-ditch or in confined spaces. The double-action hand pump works in unison with high-velocity cylinders to create fast carriage speeds for quick opens and closes during fusion processes. The rolling chassis also brings fusion operations to a more comfortable level for the operator.

Cold Mix Manufacturing Corp.
After a full year of thorough field and lab testing, Cold Mix officials say New York’s electric, gas and steam utility, Con Edison has given the earthfriendly GreenPatch™ their official companywide approval for exclusive daily use. GreenPatch replaces the conventional petroleum-based cold asphalt patching material (commonly referred to as “cold patch”) used on all subsurface utility construction and repair projects –which ultimately require road and pavement restoration – throughout New York City and Westchester County. Utilities and public works agencies are some of the largest users of cold patch, which is widely used in repairing street cuts for gas and electric work, back filling excavations in pedestrian walkways and creating ramps for steel plates on roadways. GreenPatch was developed in the spring of 2007 by Cold Mix Manufacturing.
