Pipeline Construction Project Can Use Extra Workspace

Posted on

FERC has approved Williams’ request to add 0.19 acres of additional temporary workspace at the South Union Meter and Regulator Station in Spartanburg County, South Carolina associated with the Virginia Southside Expansion Project II.

According to FERC’s Arianne Balsom, the additional workspace would provide adequate room for the installation of a new fence and to maintain a safety buffer distance from an existing nearby foreign pipeline.

The Virginia Southside Expansion Project II includes the construction of approximately 4 miles of new 24-inch diameter pipeline extending from the Transco Brunswick Lateral in Brunswick County, Va., and terminating in Greensville County, Va., one delivery metering and regulator station in Greensville County, Va., an additional unit at a compressor facility station in Pittsylvania County, Va and an additional electric motor for an existing Transco compressor station in Prince William County, Va.

The project is expected to be in service in the fourth quarter of 2017.
