St. Charles Parish Expansion Construction Can Start

FERC has approved Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, LP’s request to proceed with construction on the St. Charles Parish Expansion Project, along with the following variance requests:

  • To shift the location of the Montz Compressor Station permanent site approximately 30 feet east-southeast from its current permitted location, as requested by the St. Charles Parish Department of Public Works and Wastewater to accommodate future drainage improvements.
  • Change the southern access road from permanent to temporary.
  • Make minor modifications to the compressor station temporary workspace, which will result in an overall decrease of temporary workspace impacts by 0.58 acres.

The St. Charles Parish Expansion Project includes the construction of approximately 900 feet of 16-inch natural gas pipeline, a new 5,000 horsepower compressor station, and other auxiliary, appurtenant facilities on Gulf South’s existing 24-inch Index 270 pipeline system in southeast Louisiana.  Once completed, the project will provide 133,333 dekatherms per day of Rate Schedule Enhanced Firm Transportation service to Entergy Louisiana, LLC’s proposed 980 megawatt natural gas-fired combined cycle electric generating unit to be located near Montz, Louisiana.

It is expected to be placed in service by Sept. 1, 2018.
