Tallgrass Energy, through its affiliate Tallgrass Pony Express Pipeline, announced it has extended and expanded its open season soliciting shipper commitments for crude oil transportation service from origins in Wyoming and Colorado to refinery destinations along the Pony Express system and to Cushing, Okla., to reflect updated rates and contracting options to accommodate newly secured commitments. The open season, initially announced Nov. 13, 2018 has been extended to April 14, 2019.
Enbridge Energy is delaying the start-up of its planned Line 3 replacement crude oil pipeline through northern Minnesota by a year. The Canadian-based company said it now expects the new pipeline to go into service in the second half of 2020. Enbridge officials had hoped to put the pipeline into service in the second half of 2019. But Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz recently said his administration will keep pursuing an appeal of an independent regulatory commission’s approval of Enbridge’s plan. The state Public Utilities approved the project last summer. But the Minnesota Department of Commerce […]
SINGAPORE (Reuters) – China will announce a plan this year to form a national oil and gas pipeline group combining the long-distance pipeline assets of the country’s state-owned energy companies, in the sector’s largest reshuffle in two decades, said three persons with knowledge of the plan. The change is designed to open access to China’s pipeline infrastructure to private and foreign energy producers to spur oil and gas exploration. The open pipeline network will allow companies to focus on exploration without any additional costs to move the fuel to market. China’s economic planner, the National Development and […]
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A federal appeals court on Monday denied a request to reconsider a ruling throwing out a permit for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline to cross two national forests, including parts of the Appalachian Trail. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a request from lead pipeline developer Dominion Energy and the U.S. Forest Service to hold a full-court rehearing. In December, a three-judge panel of the 4th Circuit sharply criticized the Forest Service, saying the agency lacked authority to authorize the pipeline’s crossing of the trail. The panel also said the […]
Service began on the 168-mile Valley Crossing Pipeline, which will transport natural gas from the Agua Dulce near Corpus Christi, Texas, to a pipeline in Mexico. The $1.5 billion pipeline will, at capacity, move 2.6 Bcf/d of natural gas into service on Feb. 14. It had been ready to operate since October, Enbridge said, but awaited the completion of the pipeline in Mexico. The second pipeline, the Infraestructura Marina del Golfo, a joint venture between TransCanada and Sempra Energy, experienced months of delays but was finished in in early February.
Canada’s energy regulator endorsed a contentious Trans Mountain pipeline expansion that would almost triple the flow of oil from the Alberta oil sands to the Pacific Coast. The National Energy Board (NEB) said the expansion is in the country’s national interest but set out 16 new conditions after a court found it had not properly determined how killer whales would be affected by additional tanker traffic. The court also said there had been insufficient consultation with indigenous communities. As oil flow increases from 300,000 to 890,000 bpd, tanker traffic will balloon from about 60 vessels […]
HOUSTON (Reuters) – Crude inventories in West Texas dropped this week to the lowest in four months after a converted pipeline began transporting crude from the nation’s biggest shale oil field to the U.S. Gulf Coast, data from market intelligence provider Genscape showed. The drop-in storage in the Permian Basin is another sign that new pipelines out of the region have begun to alleviate a crude bottleneck that depressed local crude prices as production overwhelmed pipeline capacity and filled storage tanks. Crude inventories in the Permian Basin fell to 15 million barrels in the week […]
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Reuters) – TransCanada restarted a section of the Keystone oil pipeline on Tuesday, following a leak in Missouri earlier this month, company spokesman Terry Cunha said. TransCanada had shut an arm of Keystone from Steele City, Neb. to Patoka, Ill., on Feb. 6 after leaking 43 barrels of crude oil. The shutdown restricted the flow on the 590,000 bpd Keystone pipeline system, a critical artery taking Canadian crude from northern Alberta to refineries in the U.S. Midwest. The line restarted with a 20% reduction of pressure, a spokesman for U.S. regulator PHMSA said. […]
MIDLAND, Texas – Oryx Midstream Services announced the successful completion of the open season for a new regional crude oil gathering and transportation system that will provide additional pipeline capacity across the Northern Delaware Basin. The system will extend into Carlsbad, Eddy, Lynch and Lea County in New Mexico, near the state line shared with Texas. Construction on the new system is ongoing and Oryx expects to complete the initial phases of the project in the second half of 2018, with the system expansion expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2019. The […]
Tallgrass Energy LP announced plans to develop a new crude oil pipeline from Cushing, OK, to the St. James, LA, refining complex, as well as a separate new export-capable liquids terminal strategically located near the mouth of the Mississippi River. The proposed Seahorse Pipeline is expected to be 30 inches in diameter and approximately 700 miles long, with the capacity to transport up to 800 Mbpd of crude oil from Cushing to the Louisiana Gulf Coast. The pipeline will operate as a common grade batch system that, along with Tallgrass’ Pony Express Pipeline, will ensure […]
